I am a precision medicine expert dedicated to advancing treatments for cystic fibrosis (CF). My commitment to supporting individuals with CF is driven by both expertise and compassion. I envision CF care as a model for personalized treatment and concentrate on three core objectives:
First, to broaden the reach of FDA-approved modulator therapies to individuals with rare CFTR variants from marginalized communities, as well as to those who may not meet the traditional CF definition but have borderline CFTR dysfunction that could benefit from improvement in their lung function.
Second, to develop new treatments for individuals with splice-site and nonsense mutations who are currently ineligible for CFTR modulators. This includes testing antisense oligonucleotides, small molecule splice modulators, NMD inhibition, readthrough, and genetic therapies.
Lastly, to increase awareness in countries where CF remains under-recognized or low-priority. Through these efforts, I aim to make transformative and equitable care accessible to everyone affected by CFTR dysfunction.
I regard my institution as a “Temple”, my lab members as “devotees”, and my work as “Service” for the society. In my spare time, I enjoy watching cricket.
