Dena Shagai Maroof Rotating Doctoral Candidate
I am Dena Saghai Maroof, a first-year PhD student in the Human Genetics program. I earned my B.S. in biology from the University of Virginia and am currently undertaking my first rotation in Dr. Sharma’s lab. My project centers on utilizing gene editing strategies to correct disease-causing nonsense variants in the CFTR gene. My broader research goal is to leverage translational genomics to address the genetic underpinnings of human diseases.
